How we verify
Every venue spotlight on Periodiko carries a verification stamp. This is what that stamp means — all ten points, every time.
- Open and operating. We confirm the business exists and is trading at the stated address, in person or by direct contact — not from a directory listing.
- Photographed prices. Sample prices are taken from the menu or price list on the day of the visit and photographed as evidence.
- Checked hours. Opening hours are confirmed with staff, not copied from a map service.
- Named specifics. We record concrete, checkable details — dish names, room types, model numbers — never vague summaries.
- Family facts on site. High chairs, play areas, changing tables, and parking are physically checked, not assumed.
- Original photos. Photography is our own, taken during the verification visit. Until our first visit, a venue-provided photo may appear temporarily — always labeled “photo: courtesy of the venue” — and is replaced with our own photography at verification.
- Staff languages. We note which languages staff actually spoke with us during the visit.
- Verification stamp. Every spotlight shows the month and year it was last verified. No stamp, no claim.
- Six-month re-verification. Spotlights are re-checked at least every six months. Past-due entries show a “re-verification pending” notice instead of the stamp.
- Removal policy. If a business closes, changes hands, or no longer matches what we verified, the article is corrected or removed — sponsored or not.
